How it works

How Social AI Manager works with TikTok

This page describes the real flow in the application, step by step: connecting a TikTok account, scheduling a video, sending it to TikTok, collecting its statistics and disconnecting. It is written for users and for platform reviewers.

Purpose

Why Social AI Manager uses TikTok’s APIs

Social AI Manager helps content creators, freelancers and small teams publish regularly. They prepare videos in advance, place them in an editorial calendar and let the application deliver them to TikTok at the planned time.

The application needs TikTok’s APIs for three things only: to connect the user’s own account (Login Kit), to send the videos the user scheduled (Content Posting API) and to show the statistics of the user’s public videos so they can plan the next ones (Display API).

Every publication is created and scheduled by the user. In the default Draft mode, the user also finishes and posts each video in the TikTok app.

Step by step

The TikTok flow in the application

The application interface is in French. Each step gives the English name of the screen and the label shown in the application.

  1. Step 1: Connect a TikTok account

Settings → Social networks → TikTok → Connect TikTokIn the app: Paramètres → Réseaux sociaux → TikTok → Connecter TikTok

Social AI Manager opens TikTok’s official authorization page in your default browser. You sign in on TikTok and review the permissions requested.

After you approve, TikTok redirects to a local confirmation page served by the application on your computer (127.0.0.1). The connected account then appears in Social AI Manager.

Your TikTok password is never entered in, sent to or stored by Social AI Manager.

  2. Step 2: Add a video to the library

Library → Import a videoIn the app: Bibliothèque → Importer une vidéo

Choose a video file (MP4, MOV, WebM) with the file dialog or by drag and drop. The application reads its duration and size and creates a thumbnail.

The original file is never modified or deleted.

  3. Step 3: Prepare the publication

New publicationIn the app: Nouvelle publication

Select TikTok, the video, the caption, hashtags and the date and time.

When direct posting is used, the screen follows TikTok’s content sharing guidelines: connected account name, privacy level chosen by you with no default, interaction settings off by default, commercial content disclosure and consent before scheduling.

  4. Step 4: Schedule it

    CalendarIn the app: Calendrier

The publication appears in the calendar with the status “Scheduled”. It can be moved by drag and drop or edited until it is sent.

  5. Step 5: Sent to TikTok at the planned time

Automatic, background serviceIn the app: Statuts « Envoi en cours » puis « Envoyé — à finaliser dans l’app »

At the scheduled time, the background service uploads the video to TikTok with the Content Posting API and checks its status.

In Draft mode the video is delivered to your TikTok inbox and the status becomes “Sent — finish in the TikTok app”. TikTok does not receive the caption in this mode: the application lets you copy it.

  6. Step 6: Finish and post in TikTok

TikTok appIn the app: Bouton « Copier la légende », puis statut « Publiée »

Open the TikTok notification, paste the caption, adjust the video if you wish and post it.

Social AI Manager detects that the video was published and marks it “Published”.

  7. Step 7: Follow its performance

Data and analyticsIn the app: Données et analyses

Statistics of public videos (views, likes, comments, shares) and account figures are collected every 6 hours by default. Each collection is kept to show the evolution.

  8. Step 8: Disconnect at any time

Settings → Social networks → TikTok → DisconnectIn the app: Paramètres → Réseaux sociaux → TikTok → Déconnecter

Disconnecting revokes Social AI Manager’s authorization with TikTok and deletes the access tokens stored on your computer.

Your publication history and statistics stay on your computer until you delete them (see the Privacy Policy).

Permissions

TikTok products and scopes

You see these permissions on TikTok’s authorization page before you approve them. Social AI Manager only requests what the features you use need.

Login Kit for Desktop

Lets you connect your TikTok account. Authorization happens on TikTok’s own page, in your browser, with OAuth 2.0 and PKCE.

user.info.basic
Identify the connected account (TikTok ID, display name and avatar link) and show it in the application.
user.info.profile
Show your @username and build links to your published videos.
user.info.stats
Show followers, following, total likes and number of videos on the analytics screens.

Content Posting API

Sends the videos you scheduled to TikTok at the planned time, then checks their status until they are published.

video.upload
Draft mode (default): upload the video to your TikTok inbox so you can finish and post it in the TikTok app.
video.publish
Direct posting, only if you choose it. TikTok restricts direct posts from apps that have not completed its review to private visibility.

Display API

Retrieves the statistics of your public videos so you can follow them over time.

video.list
List your public videos with their views, likes, comments and shares.

Data

How TikTok data is handled

  • Data received from TikTok is stored on the user’s computer only. Social AI Manager has no server that receives it.
  • Access and refresh tokens are encrypted (AES-256-GCM, key protected by Windows DPAPI), never displayed, never written to logs and never given to AI agents.
  • Data is used only to provide the features the user asked for. It is not sold, shared or used for advertising.
  • Disconnecting revokes the authorization with TikTok and deletes the tokens.

Limits

Current limits, stated openly

  • Direct posting from apps that have not completed TikTok’s review is limited by TikTok to private visibility. Draft mode is therefore the default.
  • TikTok accepts at most 5 pending drafts per 24 hours, and around 15 posts per day per creator account through its API.
  • Statistics are available for public videos only. TikTok does not provide “saves” through its API.
  • Social AI Manager runs on your computer: it must be on, with the application’s background service running, for publications to be sent. A publication missed while the computer was off is sent when it restarts, within a grace period (12 hours by default).
  • Only TikTok is connected through an API today.

Status with TikTok

Social AI Manager is an independent application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by TikTok, and it has not yet completed TikTok’s app review. Questions about the integration can be sent to request@chesslearning.fr.
